GS2000 Roster Editor Version 2
You should have two files once you have uncompressed the
GS2KREV2.EXE file. The files are GS2KRE.DOC(this file) and
GS2KRE.EXE(the editor itself).
To use the editor just copy the GS2KRE.EXE file to your
GS2000 directory and type 'GS2KRE' to start the program.
The editor is menu driven and has the ability to change
the following:
1. Pilot name
2. Pilot rank
3. Pilot medals
4. Scores
5. Number of missions/campaigns
6. Number of phoenixes (if you have I&I)
7. Where you are currently flying
8. Pilot status
9. Squadron name
10. Squadron insignia
11. Wingmen names
12. Wingmen ranks
13. Wingmen medals
14. Wingmen face
15. Reality switches
You can print out a record of one of your pilots to
disk or to printer, and you can send wingmen to an external
file so that they may be "resurrected" or so you can rotate
between wingmen in your squadron.
The Main Menu:
This is where you select whether or not you want to edit
a pilot, print a pilot's record out or import/export a
wingman.
Note : No matter what choice you select(except for quit) you
will be presented with a list of the current pilots in the
GS2000 roster. Just select the one you want to use to
continue.
If you select 'A' from the main menu you will get a
listing of all of the pilots characteristics. Just select
which characteristic you want to change by typing in the
appropriate highlighted letter, followed by <ENTER>.
For the Name and Squadron Name fields just type in the new
name followed by <ENTER>.
For the Scores, Number of missions, Number of campaigns,
and Number of phoenixes just type in the new number that you
want.
The Squadron insignia, Rank, Status, Flight configuration,
and Area of operation are all controlled by listing all the
possible selections. Just choose the one you want.
The Reality switches are changed from another menu. Just
selet which switch you want to change and you will be
presentes with some choices for the change.
The Medals are handled by printing out the quantity of the
medals you currently hold and then listing the medals in
order and allowing you to fill in a new quantity.
To edit your wingmen just hit 'W'. This will give you a
list of your wingmen, select the one you want to edit and
hit <ENTER>. You will be given a menu similar to the pilot
edit screen but with fewer selections. All of the selections
are handled the same way as the pilot's. When you are done
editing the wingman hit 'E'.
Once you're done editing the pilot hit 'E' to save the
changes and exit to Dos or hit 'Q' to quit without saving.
By selecting 'B' from the main menu you will get the
choice of either importing or exporting a wingman to/from
disk.
If you choose to export a wingman you will be given a list
of the wingman names of the pilot you are editing. Pick a
wingman from the list and his data will be sent to a text
file called 'GS2KWING.DAT'. This file is created
automatically the first time you run this editor.
If you choose to import a wingman from disk you will be
given the names of the wingmen of the pilot you are editing.
Once you select the wingman you want to replace you will be
given a list of the wingmen that are on disk. Once you select
the wingman to import you'll be asked whether or not you
want to save the changes. Just hit either 'Y' or 'N' and
you're finished.
Selecting 'C' from the main menu lets you print your pilot
to either printer or disk. If you want to send the record to
disk you'll be asked to type in the filename and path for
the pilot record. If you choose to print the record just
make sure you're printer is on and that you have paper in it.
One record is 70 characters across and 15 lines long.
Choosing 'Q' from the main menu will exit to Dos.
If you have any questions, comments or problems you can
contact me via NVN, my address is JWIEGERT and I can usually
be found in one of the Games Forums in the Flight Sims areas.

NOTE:
If you have used another editor, like GS2KED, on your
Roster.Dat file than you will probably receive an error
message when you run this program. This is due to GS2KED
leaving spaces after your pilot's name instead of leaving
the are blank. If you have a hex editor of some kind, and
you know how to use it, you can fix this problem. Just
load the Roster.Dat file into the hexer and search for
your pilot's name, once you've found it just replace all
of the '2E' bytes with '00'. This should solve the problem.
(You'll have to do this with all of the pilots.)
